Selected Photographs from the Goetz Collection

Ingvild Goetz has engaged with photography since she began collecting art in the 1960s. Under the title Street Life & Home Stories, works by around 25 artists are presented. The life stories captured by the camera point to social, political, and societal issues that lie behind the purely subjective moments depicted in the photographs.

The city, the street, and the domestic environment are transformed into a stage for fleeting moments. Works by Evelyn Hofer and Tobias Zielony’s photographs of the American town of Trona capture the interaction between people and their surroundings, while also portraying places that serve as symbols of particular states of mind and destinies.

By juxtaposing important photographers such as August Sander with contemporary artists like Wolfgang Tillmans, the publication offers insight into artistic tendencies in photography and the interactions between different eras of photographic practice.
